Hello everyone! Happy Thursday, or whenever you are reading this haha :) It currently is negative degrees outside, and winter is now finally in full force. But I can't complain because this winter has truly been so mild compared to other years. When it comes to the winter season I truly can get cabin fever, and get SO sick of being inside, which is why I decided to redecorate. I knew I wanted to redo our living room, and get rid of a lot of items that we had from college living. So here is the new living room, and how I redid everything on a budget! -New Wall Decor: So I am only going to point out everything new I got. My first tip is to go check out T.J. Max because they have such affordable wall decor. The blue wall decor set I got there for $20, and the girl next to the bike for $12. Check out the sale section first because they have such great items :) - New Curtains: Alright so my next tip is to check out Walmart. I know, I know, I don't love shopping there, but the curtains I found were $10-$20 cheaper then any other place. Also the prints I got from our wedding we also got from Walmart. I wanted curtains that would allow the sunlight to come in, and funny enough the curtains actually kinda match my wedding dress in the photos. - New Couch: Alright this was our biggest purchase for our living room. My tip here is to check out used furniture. We spent months and months going to Facebook market place, Nebraska Furniture Mark, and literally anywhere that had couches. Finally we found this beauty on Facebook Marketplace for $400, only two years old and hardly used. My tips for buying on the Marketplace: -Have a set budget & don't budge (ours was under $500) - Make sure you know what you want (we wanted grey and a sectional) -Check out the sellers actual profile (kinda just for cleanliness to be honest) -Always go and check it out before you front any money -And be patient (it took four months before we found the one we wanted) - New DIY: Next tip is to DIY some stuff! I actually found the hanging plants on pinterest and literally stocked every park for months (creepy sounding haha) but finally I found one that would work and the rest was super easy. So check out Pinterest and actually give some DIYs that I know you already have pinned a try! - New Pillows
What we found pillow shopping is that pillows are flipping pricy lol So the only tip I have here is take advantage of deals & gift cards! We had a $25 Pier 1 gift card left over from our wedding so we decided to use it for pillows. And what also helped was they were having a pillow sale haha buy one get one 50% off. We got both the two pink pillows, and even with the deal & gift card we still had to pay $5. So keep an eye out for those deals and check your wallet for leftover gift cards. Alright so those are my tips and tricks! But I am just so so happy with the result of our living room, it feels much more homey and has made this winter so much better :) Below is also two videos of our kitchen decor & redone guest bedroom. Welcome to 2020 everyone!
How wild is this :) When coming into a new year I feel like there can be a lot of pressure to do better, be better, but now entering into a new decade, 10x more hype with this year haha. So here are some tips on how you can smoothly enter into 2020 and still feed off the vibrations of a new year! 1. Make that Vision Board Baby :) -Maybe you are a vision board person, and maybe not. But for me making a vision board that has long term, and short term goals is such a help to me. I make short term goals that I have already removed from my vision board, and long term ones that are still on there. Give it a try, cause what is it going to hurt?? 2. Journal -I am not a journal type person, but with this new decade I am giving this one a try! Write down 3-5 things that have happened over the last 10 years, good and bad. Then write 3-5 things that you want to change in this upcoming year/decade. 3. Appreciate -Lastly don't forget to appreciate where you are now. Agin with a new year we can always feel like we met do, do, do. This can be great and all, but don't forget that where you are right now is exactly where your supposed to be. And that this past decade was a beautiful gift that got you there. Now go off and crush this year :) Happy 2020! XOXO, Chandel Patricia :) Hello Everyone! Welcome back :) I hope you are all having an amazing start to your day. Right now I have a pine scented candle burning, and a warm blanket wrapped around me! All is well :) Today's post is to help you unwind, and give you all the good vibes for this holiday season. Here are two meditation videos to help you relax, unwind, and just breathe :) Before the craziness of the holidays begin, give one of these a try, quick and simple to get you centered and grounded.
I hope you all have such a great Christmas, I will talk to you all soon! XOXO, Chandel Patricia :) Hello everyone!
I have yet another mudra for you all to give a try :) Definition is below if anyone is wondering what the heck a mudra is. mu·dra /məˈdrä,ˈmo͞odrə/ noun
Dhyana Mudra: How To: Hands rest open a little lower then heart center, with your right hand on top of your left palm. The tips of your thumbs will connect and point up towards the sky! Dhyana Meaning: Dhyana brings you deeper into concentration. And allows you inner peace. When To Use: When you are feeling your mind is all over the place, or when you are feeling a disconnect with yourself. Mantras: I allow myself to move deeper with my soul. Give this mudra a try along with the mantra, doing this as apart of a meditation, or maybe just for a few breaths throughout your day :) I hope you all enjoyed and below is a link to a few of my other mudra posts. Happy Tuesday :) I hope you all are having a beautiful day, and will have an even better week. Getting ready for Thanksgiving makes me remember how truly grateful I am! So I wanted to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone that stops by the blog space and gives it a read :) But with that haha, today we are talking all about how to stuck to a workout routine, cause for some reason I am really great at this. A Workout For You: First off find a workout plan that completely suits you! Maybe it is a lifting program, spinning, yoga, whatever it might be make sure you enjoy it :) and yes I said enjoy it, so to find this you might have to do a little trial and error! Length: Next make sure the length of this program is realistic for you. I personally love programs that are 4-6 weeks, and that are anywhere from 20 mins-1 hour long! Anything longer then an hour is just not for me haha :) Switch It Up: It is actually great for the body to not get used to the same thing! So switch it up, after the 4-6 weeks, or whatever it is, do something totally different, give your body a change, and that is when you will see yourself get stronger. Progress Photos: To really see what working out can do for you, sometimes taking progress photos can be so helpful! I prefer photos over weighing myself any day, cause that isn't why I workout! Plus with photos you can see yourself get stronger, and just becoming healthier, which can defiantly help motivate you :) So these are my tricks. Let me know if they help you! And have the best Thanksgiving :) XOXO, Chandel Patricia Hello Everyone!
I know after Sunday we are all feeling the time change. Yes we got an extra hour of sleep, but the sunsets literally at 4:30pm. It can be so hard to wake up for work to darkness, and get out of work to dusk! So here are my tips on how to embrace this change and make the most of it :) Tip 1: Sunrise or Sunset -My first tip is to take the sun going down early to your advantage, or the sun rising early! Maybe you can wake up just a little bit earlier to see the beautiful sunrise with your morning coffee. Or maybe you can watch the sunset before heading home after work. Embracing the beautiful colors the sky paints for us can help appreciate these short days! Tip 2: Style -Next tip is to start embracing these colder days in style :) Literally going out and purchasing yourself some new cute winter clothes. It doesn't mean you have to break your bank! I recently ordered from Thread Up (sustainable clothing app) and got three new dress for $22. Give yourself the gift of style this winter haha! Tip 3: Coziness -Finally my last tip is to take advantage of this cozy season. After you get home from work, grab your most comfortable blanket, favorite movie, or book, and sit and just be cozy for at least a half hour before dinner! Embrace all the cozy! And those are all my tips! I know I have been trying my best to embrace this change and also the colder season :) We can get through this all together haha! Have a beautiful rest of your day. XOXO, Chandel Patricia :) Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to the blog space :) Today was the first day I woke up to frost on my car. Cannot believe it is getting so close to winter. But for now I am just going to enjoy whatever is left of this Fall Season! Anyways haha getting into todays topic which is all about how to write your own meditation :) You can use this for yourself completely or if you would like to lead a meditation of your own. Step 1: Type of Meditation The very first thing I do when thinking about writing my own meditation is think of what kind of meditation I would like. For example: Mindful Meditation, Water Meditation, Color Meditation etc. Figure out what type first which will help you so much for the next steps! Step 2: Main Topic of the Meditation What do you mainly want this meditation to be about? For example: Mindful Meditation, finding a mantra that the whole meditation will surround, like "I Go With The Flow of Life". This will help you continue to write and build your meditation. Step 3: Length of Meditation How long do you want the meditation to be? For my Meditate and Flow class I always have the meditations last about 10-15 mins, this will help you write your meditation, but will also really help you guide it as well :) Step 4: Order Everything Out So for me this would look like: Opening Words: Come to a seated position, hands relax, shoulders away from your ears etc. Breath: Starting to focus on your breath, taking 3 breaths together, knowing you can come back to your breath etc. Mantra: Entering in todays mantra or centering thought (say mantra) etc. Body: (Any other words that resinate with the mantra), continuing to help bring them back to the space and the mantra, and helping them still focus on their breath etc. Final: Coming back to the breath, count to 3 slowly come back to the space, 1 wiggle fingers and toes, 2 focus on your breath, 3 opening your eyes etc. Step 5: Finalize It So of course above is a very rough outline to then to finish it all off fill in the blanks, and write out everything you would like to say during the meditation. Remembering this is a practice of the mind so truly trying to be as thorough as possible. This will help your meditation and will continue to bring people back to your class! I hope all this helped weather you are doing this for you or for a class :) Give it a try and remember there really is no wrong way! XOXO, Chandel Patricia :) Hello all!
Today is yet another mudra post :) Definition is below if anyone is wondering what the heck a mudra is. mu·dra /məˈdrä,ˈmo͞odrə/ noun
Today we are talking Prana Mudra! How to: Tip of ring finger and pinky come together and connect with the thumb :) Its Meaning: This mudra symbolizes prana, vital energy. It will help energy flow throughout your body. Will also help you feel energized, and more powerful throughout your body. When Used: I love to use this mudra when I am practicing any type of breathing on or off the mat! Or when I feel my energy is a bit low! Give Prana a go and let me know how it makes you feel :) Do you feel that energy boost? Do you feel a connection with your breathing? I hope you all enjoy. XO, Chandel Patricia :) Vayu Mudra Akash Mudra Happy October all!
I cannot believe today is the first day of spooky season :) I love everything about fall, the weather, the outfits, pumpkin spice everything. Such a fun time of the year! However with this season sometimes comes rain (at least in the midwest haha) and much cooler temps, which brings us to todays topic :) Lets bring zen in. Here is how I create a zen environment for myself within my own apartment! 1. Scent: -Bring scent inside can be huge. We all love the small of floral, pine, and all that we get outside, it can really help calm you. So I recently went out and bought myself a new scent item that keeps my apartment smelling amazing! It is from Yankee Candle and it is a scent warmer with a gel tin, it has 500 hours of scent time && best part the gel never liquifies. So no mess! However you can do scent however you want! 2. Decor -Bring home any kind of decor that makes you smile. Or is just very aseptically pleasing to your eye. To be honest for me at the moment it is our halloween decor haha! So cute! 3. Music -Something that calms me more then anything is music. I can get home from a crazy day, put some Trevor Hall on and be in a completely different mood :) find any kind of music that can help calm and center you. There you have it! Some fun tips to help bring zen into your home! I hope you all enjoyed and let me know what you do to help feel zen :) XOXO, Chandel Patricia Hello loves!
Happy first day of Autumn :) When the seasons start to change I really think so do we. We get into different mindsets, we want to start fresh and clean! Or at least I do haha :) So lets all take this Fall and spend it focusing on us, and how to make us better. Here are my suggestions! Start Fresh: -For me starting fresh is going out and getting my hair dyed or cut, or maybe wander to a new sustainable clothing store and buy yourself a new autumn outfit, you deserve it :) Take a Challenge: -Derrik and I recently decided do to a 6 week meditation challenge. But you can make it anything, maybe a new fitness challenge, or maybe you want to learn something new. Go out and get that knowledge girl! Take Yourself Out: -Yesterday we went out to a park, brought a cooler full of drinks, snacks, and just enjoyed the beautiful weather :) maybe try a pumpkin patch, just get yourself out before the cold weather is here. Alright there is only three suggestions here so I believe this is defiantly doable haha! So give yourself the gift of YOU this Fall :) XOXO, Chandel Patricia |
